The industries of the Middle Palaeolithic in Brittany are found at the basis of the Formation of Nantois, in the Formation of La Haute-Ville and at the basis of the Formation of Port-Morvan. They coincide with climatically favourable periods and with a landscape which fluctuated between a forest (temperate or boreal but always with oceanic features) and a steppe with arboreous areas. The localization of the littoral in relation to the habitats was very variable according to places but the marine regression remained limited (between the actual level and about -30 m). The peopling was permanent and the settlements were fairly stable. On the contrary, in the Upper Palaeolithic, we discern only seasonal camps connected with long distance travel...
