International audienceBACKGROUND: The learning needs of newly diagnosed diabetic patients followed up in medical offices in Reunion Island are unknown, although necessary for the improvement of education programmes and disease control. AIM: To assess the knowledge of type 2 diabetic patients in primary care followed for less than 5 years. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was carried out, using a self-questionnaire to assess patients’ knowledge of diabetes, complications, follow-up, diet and physical activity.
