The paper is based upon systematic field study and photo-interpretation and presents a new sratigraphic interpretation of the Quaternary deposits of the Pampa Deprimida which is correlated with climatic changes and glaao-eustatic variations of sea-level. The Pampean formation is considered as Old-Quaternary and consists of volcanic ashes, not of lœss. The Post-Pampean period does not restrict itself to the Holocene, as J. Frenguelli thought, but beguins about with the end of the Mindel period. Two marine transgressions have been put into evidence, which have reached the levels of 8-10 m and 4-5 m above present sea-level. There is a regression between them.
