Bases anatomopathologiques du diagnostic d'infection squelettique en paléopathologie

Anatomical bases of infectious skeletal diseases in paleopathology. Summary. The anatomopathologie studies of the evolution of lesions in bone or osteoarticular infections enables one to delineate traces of it which may persist in paleopathological specimens. Due to their osteogemc remodelling they are essentially chronic lesions established from their beginning or end results of acute lesions. This approach lies on an analogical reasoning which could be reenforced by applying special technics such as radiography and histological examinations. Depending on the available material and the problems confronted with, they are susceptible to provide a diagnostic which can be exact by these simple methods. In any case, inspite of the assurances of molecular biology (Polymerase Chain Reaction = PCR) in providing proofs of responsible organisms, this reasoning is inescapable in a correct choice of the specimens destinated to the use of such methods.Résumé. — L'évolution anatomopathologique des infections osseuses ou ostéo-articulaires permet d'en comprendre la trace qui persiste en paléopathologie. Grâce à leur composante ostéogénique, ceci concerne essentiellement les formes chroniques, soit d'emblée soit par évolution d'une forme aiguë. Cette approche repose sur un raisonnement analogique qui peut être enrichi par la mise enjeu de techniques spéciales telles que la radiographie et l'examen histologique. Suivant le matériel à disposition et le problème en cause elle est susceptible de fournir un diagnostic sûr par des méthodes simples. De toute façon, malgré les promesses de la biologie moléculaire dans la recherche d'un organisme responsable (PCR = «Polymerase Chain Reaction»), elle reste incontournable pour orienter des prélèvements corrects destinés à l'emploi de telles méthodes.Lagier René.
