Introduction: Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM) is a therapeutic technique of intentionally inducing petechiae by rubbing the tissue. This technique is derived from ancient techniques originating from different civilizations. In traditional Chinese medicine this practice is known as Gua Sha. Objective: This literature review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of IASTM in reducing pain in patients that suffer from common low back pain. Methodology : The different database used included: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Pedro, and Science Direct.
