The research work presented in this manuscript concerns the development of ultrasonic and acoustic methods for source localization (1st axis) and the characterization of complex structures and objects in complex environments (2nd axis). These researches have been carried out mainly for non-destructive testing and underwater acoustics applications. The development of methods of localization and characterization is based on the resolution of a problem of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) which can be maximized by the use of low noise measurement devices with as many sensors as possible, or by measurements in a simple environment, that is to say, isotropic, homogeneous, infinite and low attenuation.
