Nationally, undocumented Latinx students face challenges in k-12 education leading to lower graduation rates. This marginalized group of students in rural Greene County, North Carolina has been defying the odds academically, with a district-wide graduation rate routinely above 90%. Greene County schools has a student population of just under 3,000 students with a third of these students identifying as Latinx. Many of these students are the first in their families to attend school in the United States and have acquired English as their second language.
