Many applications of digital filters require fast and efficient processing of data to meet real-time constraints . Block digital filters are a class of infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filters which possess a high degree of parallelism, and are more efficient than scalar structures. This essay deals with various structures for these types of filters and their advantages. In Chapter 1 block digital filters are introduced and their background is presented.
