History and evolution of Ratzel's geographical thought cannot be understood without some contextual dimensions, some biographical factors and a strong recovery of his lesser works. These three ingredients allow to avoid off-context'trap, censors'negative influence and flatterers' distorting role. Ratzel was the victim of a huge misundetstanding.
