Ces travaux sont consacrés à la modélisation tridimensionnelle transitoire d’une torche à plasma thermique de 300kW à cathode creuse fonctionnant avec de l’air. La finalité de ces travaux est d’aider au dimensionnement des torches de plus fortes puissances (ex : torche de 10MW). Cette technologie de torches est composée (1) d’une cathode creuse, (2) d’une chambre d’injection du gaz plasmagène en vortex et (3) d’une bobine externe créant un champ magnétique permettant la rotation du pied d’arc afin de réduire son érosion. La première partie de ces travaux est dédiée à la présentation du modèle tridimensionnel développé avec l’outil numérique (Ansys-Fluent) pour la résolution des équations magnétohydrodynamiques.
