Great Britain and the North Sea oil and gas. Energy consumption is quickly changing in Great Britain : a recent recovery in the use of coal, a slight decrease for oil and a strong increase for natural gas. The great bulk of gas still comes from the « old » gasfields of the southern part of the North Sea but northern fields (particularly Brent) contribute more and more. Gas is still importee, from Algeria and the Norwegian sector of the sea (Frigg). Oilfields to the East of the Scottish coastline have made Britain one of the great oil producers of the world, but the country is both exporting and importing crude oil.
