Abstract : Downhill skiing in Quebec : an economic approach. With 20 % of its population of seven million engaging in the sport, Quebec's share of the Canadian ski market is over 43 % . This article, based on the author's three-year study of ski areas, analyses the financial and economic performance of the ski industry. It gives an overview of supply and demand in Québec ski regions, suggests criteria for classifying ski areas, and highlights key ratios and elements in the cost / revenue structure.
