Iquiqu and Anchanchu. Dwarfs, devils and metals in the Aymara Highlands This article analyses Aymara concepts concerning two popular characters from the Altiplano, a mestizo one {Iquiqu) and an Indian one (Anchanchu). They control access to and maintain their authority on metals, in accordance with general beliefs about the devil and his saxras partners. Thus, this study is focused on models of identity in the Altiplano, as well as on the diffrent ways of assuming recent Aymara history.Iquiqu et Anchanchu.
