Andean Boundaries : Blood and Fertility.The author analyzes the nature and the functionning of Andean ritual battles. How do they resolve the contradiction inherent in any dualistic society between the identity of each moiety and the unity of the whole group ? After examining the term which designate them, she decomposes this ritual in two simultaneous operations : putting the enemy to death generates an Other, symmetrical of one's Self; sacrifice, through either the death or the blood of the victim, reunites the two moieties with regard to a sacred exterior.
