Abstract. — This study examines 137 gold coins of Arverne belonging to the late phase of this coinage, i.e. the 1st century B.C. By combining typological and analytical data one can establish groups on the basis of composition and monetary issue and thereby draw up a relative chronology of this gold coinage as regards the fineness and debasement of the coins. The theoretical pattern of native gold alteration, already proven in a previous study, is again shown to be a chronological indication of the greatest importance, compensating for the scarceness of written sources.Type Lapte Al A2 A3 A6 A7 A8 A10 Ail A12 A13 A14 A15 A16 Bl B10 ClNieto-Pelletier Sylvia, Barrandon Jean-Noël.
