Prenatal protein malnutrition continues to be a significant problem in the world today. Exposure to prenatal protein malnutrition increases the risk of a number of neuropsychiatric disorders that are associated with inhibitory interneurons, including depression, schizophrenia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
