Background and objectives. Bacterial infections in critically ill patients must be quickly and effectively treated to avoid death. Thus, target plasma concentration of amikacin should be achieved on the first attempt. To determine the optimal dose to attain target at the first infusion, we conducted a study using pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of children from our department with chemo-induced febrile neutropenia (FN) who received amikacin at the currently recommended dose (15-30 mg/kg).Methods.
