Abstract The Lanturelu riot organized by vignerons and artisans in Dijon in February 1630 was an act of political opposition to the imposition of new subsidies on wine as well as the introduction of royal élus. It demonstrated that there was a vibrant popular political culture in Burgundy that was not separated from elite political culture, but was fundamentally imbricated within it.Résumé L'émeute de Lanturelu organisée par les vignerons et les artisans à Dijon en février 1630 fut un acte d'opposition politique à l'imposition des nouveaux impôts sur le vin et l'introduction des élus royaux.
