Abstract : The years 1680-1730, considered by Paul Hazard as capitals for the history of ideas are also very important in the history of the Christianism. The large popular missions in Europe show how the catholic church wanted to reach the whole society by visiting and catechizing even the smallest villages. This movement produced a new way of living and practizising religion. Hunting superstition and replacing it by devotions and benedictions authorized by the Council of Trient, putting the Christ in the center of every day s life - by ports for instance -, are complemental aspects.
