Thesis (Ph.D.)--Boston UniversityThis thesis is concerned with devices that convert ocean wave energy to electrical energy, and specifically with devices that are composed of a sequence of linked cylinders that nominally float half-submerged on the surface of the ocean. An example is the Pelamis Wave Energy Converter, which is manufactured by Pelamis Wave Power, a company headquartered in Scotland. The thesis is broader in scope, and the results should be applicable to a wide variety of devices with the same general features.
