Quartz microbalance (qcm) can be used as an instrument for measuring the corrosion rate of metals and for studying the influence of inhibitors. However, the measurements by microbalance were limited to the case of electrodeposes or vacuum deposits, the reactivity of which, in most cases, is different from that of massive metals. In addition, microbalance cannot be used for the study of industrial alloys because they cannot be obtained in thin layers, either electrochemically or by vacuum deposition.
