Bioinspired urea-based oligomers that fold with high fidelity (foldamers) have been shown to be robust alternatives to asymmetric organometallic catalysts. These organic catalysts facilitate reactions that lead to the formation of C-C bonds with extremely high enantioselectivity and loadings as low as 1:10000 chiral catalyst/substrates molar ratios. However, despite the insights gained on the catalytic performance of these urea foldamers, the atomistic scale reaction mechanism in which they are involved, as well as the identification of the structural parameters related to their excellent enatioselectivity are not yet well understood.
