Brigitte Studer, The history of Stalinism : new ideas and new paths for research. This article presents thoughts on the history of both Communism and of Stalinism, two separate traditions of contrasting epistemology. They are not identical subjects. The article examines the development of recent historiography from the angle not only of Soviet history, but also from that of the history of the Communist International and of various Communist parties. Several paths for research are outlined.
