Gas/solid fluidization is shown to deliver favourable fermentation conditions for biocatalysed reactions at low water content. For two cases i.e. production of ethanol and glutathione with means of S. cerevisiae experiments at different scales are performed and compared to results from mathematical modelling taking into account complex biokinetics and fluid bed hydrodynamics
