The internation standard project CGI is only a 2D interface. The 3D graphics systems and devices and not well supported by the CGI interfaces. Therefore CGI-3D implementations are developed. The functionality for those 3D extension derive from simple 3D functions as e.g. polyline 3D to complex functionalities as shading, lighting and ray tracing. The validation and testing of those extension can not be done in the same way (by hand) as it is done in the validation of GKS but must be done automatically
