IV The Moslem system of fortification in the southern Deccan (15th-18th century) With the introduction of gunpower and firearms into warfare in India, profound changes took place in military architecture in the Moslem kingdoms of the Deccan. In flat regions, a fausse-braye or low outerwall was added to the main enclosure. In all the sites, the diameter, the thickness and the height of the towers were increased in order to have a better command of the curtainwalls.
