Textures in rolled sheets are developed during production by deformation processes and heat treatments. Thus magnetic, elastic and plastic properties of the product become directionally dependent. This can be desirable, but it can also have negative effects. In both cases a nondestructive analysis of the texture and its consequences for materials behavior is of great interest. X-ray diffraction techniques are developed and used in industry for that purpose. Complementary to these methods, ultrasonic techniques are developed in order to analyse the texture in the surface as well as in the bulk of rolled sheets and to determine their deep drawing behaviour.
