Small PV systems are often coupled with liquid gas units to produce heat and electricity in houses for leisure purposes. The PV system consists of the solar panel, a charge controller and the accumulator. The capacity of the accumulator is often too small to store the solar energy completely. So the charge controller has to dissipate the energy via a short circuit. Our emphasis is to show that a part of this energy can be used to produce the energy carrier hydrogen. Also we want to demonstrate some hydrogen powered devices. A security unit enhance the safety of the hydrogen utilization
