In the past 10 years a considerable interest has been shown in the investigation and development of shaped charges with spheroidical liners. The use of this charge type in new conceptions of ammunition can lead to an increase in performance of warheads. This paper gives a summary of the experimental work about shaped charges with hemispherical liners. The deformation mechanisms were shown and the projectile properties as a function of the charge geometry and liner material were described. The main characteristic of this charge type is that the jets contain a high portion of the liner mass
