Packstoffsterilisation beim aseptischen Abpacken

One of the basic requirements for aseptic packaging is a packaging material free of microorganisms. Preservation and recontamination-free filling of food is in vain, if the packaging material itself is the carrier for microorganisms. In his contribution the author summarizes the up-to-date techniques for packaging material sterilization: Apart from the recontamination-free extrusion of packaging material (polyolefins) he also describes all usual methods for the sterilization of packaging materials such as the H sub 2 O sub 2-process, various irradiation techniques (UV-and Gamma-irradiation), sterilization by means of saturated or superheated steam (fig. 1) and describes possible technological difficulties.
