DEHS aerosols are widely used for filter testing. For this purpose a high-flux-generator using the principle of homogeneous nucleation in a turbulent free jet was developed. In a complementary study we did experiments at relatively high nucleation rates in a turbulent jet and, for comparison, at low nucleation rates in a thermal diffusion chamber. The aim of the study was to compare the experimental results with the classical nucleation theory. Particularly, for the turbulent free jet this turns out to be complicated since an aerosol dynamic model taking into account the spatial inhomogeneities of the aerosol properties and turbulent mixing is required
