In the outcome of the conference "Future of composite packaging materials: Properties - Ecology - Recycling", organized by the Fraunhofer Institut für Lebensmitteltechnologie und Verpackung, the first effects of the new Packaging Ordinance became clear. Explanations on the part of the legislator as well as reactions and misgivings of the experts are compared. A big innovation push can be expected for the packaging industry, in which recyclability and recycling costs are the centre of attention. The problems associated with this as well as the state of development in biodegradable film materials and other alternatives are explained
