The book represents the results of ESPRIT 2 project 2001 SPRITE (Storage, Processing and Retrieval of Information in a Technical Environment). A prototype of a new generation of systems for technical documentation is developed. The system provides solutions to documentation problems and provides all functionality needed to create, maintain and produce technical documentation. The chapter 14 presents a system, which enables the conversion of paper-based technical drawings into a format suitable for CAD systems. The system is based on a commercial available scanning and vectorization unit.
