This article introduces a task-oriented system for off-line programming of welding robots. The programming approach is based on models of the workpiece and welding system. The integration of task- specific models and the access to a technology data base with tested welding parameters enable the generation of robot task programs for direct on site execution. Required program adaptions are considered by off-line planning of sensor integration
