In modern CAD systems it is necessary to simulate connections of components in several steps. Connecting elements, such as screws, rivets and the like, must be simulated as indivi- dual parts, while modifications have to be made on the geometry of the parts to be connected, such as the carrying out of bores. Only then such parts will be combined to form an assembly group. This article introduces a method that permits connections to be handled as an element within a feature-based modeling system
