Factores que influyen en el abandono de la lactancia materna en menores de 1 año

Introduction: Breast milk contains all the nutrients that a child needs for its development and has several advantages over developed alternatives. It is considered the most complete vaccine of all time. Since the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of life is increasing, there is a need to identify the risk factors that affect it. Objective: To determine the factors that influence the abandonment of breastfeeding in children under 1 year of age. Methods: The study has a quantitative approach of a descriptive type and a cross-sectional design, carried out in the period September 2022- January 2023. A questionnaire-type instrument was used, a survey of exclusive breastfeeding applied to 111 mothers. Results: A relationship was found with the interruption of exclusive breastfeeding: mothers who work outside the home (48.6%), mothers who perceived milk production as insufficient (40.5%), early use of milk formula (71.2%); mothers with more than two children (24.3%), were the most relevant in this study. Conclusions: The predominant maternal age is between 18-23 years, without schooling, primiparous mothers expressed their fear of insufficient milk production, it was possible to observe the predominance of mixed breastfeeding, due to the fact that most mothers presented labor impediments and almost half reported breast pain.Introducción: La leche materna contiene todos los nutrientes que un niño necesita para su desarrollo y tiene varias ventajas a diferencia de la leche artificial o complementos alimenticios. Dado que el abandono de la lactancia materna en los primeros 6 meses de vida va en aumento, surge la necesidad de identificar los factores de riesgo que inciden en ello. Objetivo: Determinar los factores que influyen en el abandono de la lactancia materna en menores de 1 año. Métodos: El estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo y diseño transversal, realizado en el periodo septiembre 2022- enero 2023. Se utilizó un instrumento tipo encuesta, llamado: “Encuesta de lactancia materna exclusiva” aplicada a una muestra censal de 111 madres. Resultados: Se halló relación con la interrupción de la lactancia materna en madres que trabajan fuera del hogar (48,6%), seguido (40,5%) entre las que produce poca cantidad de leche que no satisface el hambre del niño y las que no producen, el uso temprano de lactancia artificial y mixta (71,2%), madres con problemas en los senos (24,3%).Conclusiones: La edad materna predominante es entre 18-23 años, sin escolaridad, las madres primiparas expresaban su temor a la producción insuficiente de leche, se pudo observar el predominio de la lactancia materna mixta, debido a que la mayoría de las madres presentaban impedimentos laborales y casi la mitad referian dolor en los senos
