Autoestima e Inteligencia emocional de rasgo en el retorno presencial estudiantil de enfermería

Introduction: Psycho-emotional risks in nursing students are a persistent problem over time, describing the protective factors in this population is an increasingly important need.Objective: To describe the relationship of Self-esteem with Trait Emotional Intelligence in the return of post-confinement face-to-face academic activities in Nursing students at a public university in Chile.Methods: Quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional, non-experimental study. The TEIQue-SF Emotional Intelligence questionnaire and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale were applied; both questionnaires cross-culturally adapted for use in the target population; the final sample was 213 nursing students from 1st to 5th year.Results: There was a prevalence of 68.1% with low self-esteem, likewise, in trait Emotional Intelligence, 37% were found in the very high percentile. In addition, a positive weak correlation was associated between the total self-esteem and the emotionality factor (r=.268; p<.000). Likewise, a strong negative correlation was observed between total self-esteem and the trait Emotional Intelligence Well-being factor (r=-.705; p<.000).Conclusions: There is a psycho-emotional risk associated with the reported low self-esteem and biosociodemographic factors. Trait emotional intelligence is considered a protective factor and influences self-esteem. Universities and academic teachers should be a source of training in emotional management, trying to develop this construct as an important protective factor in this student body at risk.Introducción: Los riesgos psicoemocionales en los estudiantes de enfermería son un problema persistente a lo largo del tiempo, describir los factores protectores en esta población es una necesidad cada vez más importante.Objetivo: Describir la relación de la Autoestima con la Inteligencia Emocional de rasgo en el retorno actividades académicas presenciales post-confinamiento en estudiantes de Enfermería en una universidad pública de Chile.Métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, correlacional, transversal, no experimental. Se aplicó el cuestionario TEIQue-SF de Inteligencia emocional y la escala de autoestima de Rosenberg; ambos cuestionarios adaptados transculturalmente para su uso en la población objetivo; la muestra final fue de 213 estudiantes de enfermería de 1°-5° año.Resultados: Se presentó una prevalencia de 68,1% con baja autoestima, asimismo, en la Inteligencia emocional de rasgo un 37% se encontró en el percentil muy alto. Además, se asoció una correlación débil positiva entre el total de autoestima y el factor emocionalidad (r=,268; p<,000). Igualmente, se observó una correlación fuerte negativa entre el total autoestima y el factor Bienestar de Inteligencia emocional de rasgo (r=-,705; p<,000). Conclusiones: Existe un riesgo psicoemocional asociado a la baja autoestima reportada y factores biosociodemográficos. La inteligencia emocional de rasgo se considera un factor protector e influye en la autoestima. Las universidades, docentes académicos deben ser fuente de formación en la gestión emocional, procurando desarrollar este constructo como un importante factor protector en este estudiantado en riesgo
