Abstract The alpine catchment of l'Eglise (Montagne des Arcs, left bank of Isère river, Tarentaise) was the scope of a study of slope erosion and streamflow processes. This watershed is similar to the nearby la Ravoire catchment where one streamflood generated in 1981 a series of catastrophical mudflows and debris flows.
