An important element of the processing chain of laser material processing is the laser beam. To ensure the process capability of this tool its spatial and temporal behavior as well as its effects on the process have to be identified and operationally described for quantification and measurability. Beam diagnosis supplies actual and recent information about the beam characteristics. The measurement cycle is automated to yield results of a high level of confidence and to support the operator.
