The sustainable reduction of emissions of climate-relevant gases which are associated with the generation, transformation and use of energy is becoming an increasingly important task for energy and environmental policy. Various strategies can ce envisaged to solve this problem. The aim of the IKARUS project (instruments for greenhouse gas reduction strategies) is to provide computer aided instruments with which strategies can be developed and understood using different technologies, tested with regard to their consistency and examined with respect to their economic impacts
