The ultrasonic evaluation of the stress states in wleded structures of Al alloy A1Cu6Mn is possible since the microstructural changes are not of significant influence on the elastic quantities needed for the quantities is recommended for the stress analysis in the weld seam. That requires also the machining of the weld reinforcement. Since the ultrasonic technique allows a fast and easy to apply stress analysis, it might be a helpful tool to optimize welding parameters welding parameters and to localize stress inhomogeneities in order to support the post weld treatments
