The device has an ultrasonic wave generator and flat introduction elements, to introduce ultrasonic energy into the fluid medium in an appliance. The generator and a wave transmitter (2) are positioned outside the fluid medium. A separate ultrasonic flat projector (1) of tubular circular construction is connected to the generator. A full-length gap in the projector is in direct contact with the fluid medium with its inside and outside (6,7). The generator is formed, so that ultrasonic energy/waves are transmitted intermittently in the form of impulses, into the fluid medium.
