We report on an all-optical switching devices based on semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) for demultiplexing, add/drop multiplexing in OTDM-systems, as well as, for optical sampling. SOAs are of particular interest, since they provide low switching powers and short interaction lengths. Also SOA based devices are very compact and offer the possibility for monolithic integration
