The sorting device has a distribution system with travelling distribution aids (4) which are suspended on supports in such a way that they can be guided practically weightlessly by an operator (3) directly to and/or over the objects or substances (2) lying on the transporter (1). Each operator working on the transporter has an identification facility per different object or substance, and are available in corresponding overall numbers for all objects or substances to be found on the transporter.
