This article describes an adapted approach for a digital factory planning. With the aid of this approach the digital and virtual factory planning is also possible in existing buildings and factories. The approach rests upon a laser-based 3 dimensional acquisition of existing production geometries combined with the adoption and combination with new virtual reality based elements in a team-based planning environment
