In this paper, generic discrete event simulation models of production processes are considered. It is shown that all aspects of structure and dynamics of such simulation models can be specified by entries of a data base. The model is created at run-time by assembly and interpretation of these data base entries. So, the model has the advantage to be very flexible in terms of adapting to changing scenarios to be evaluated by the simulation
