Marxism and the rise of new confucianism

After, at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Chinese intellectuals had questioned the value of the Confucian tradition in its confrontation with European imperialism, the establishment of the People's Republic of China meant that imperial China's Confucianism was replaces by a Chinese variant of Marxism-Leninism as official ideology.
