Quality assurance in the wood products industry comprises tasks like the identification of different decors or the measurement of discolorations on decorated surfaces. These tasks do not rquire a complete surface scan but a high color sensitivity. Therefore camera sensors and image processing systems are often not suitable. As an alternative color sensors can be used which are integrated in a PC. module. The sonsor and a light source is connected to a measuring head positioned closey above the moving surface on a conveyor belt using a fibre optic bundle, and thus a line scan can be obtained.
