The optical array uses a cylindrical collimator lens (3) positioned in front of a linear laser diode array. The array provides output beams which are unsymmetrical relative to two perpendicular axes (x,y). A deflection element (4), provides different deflections for the individual laser diode beams, so that they converge at a common point. A second deflection element (5) is positioned between the first deflection element and the convergence point. It compensates for the different deflection angles of the beams relative to the optical axis (z). USE - For pumping device for solid-state laser used in medicine or laser machining. ADVANTAGE - Uses simple micro-optical components, with efficient symmetrisation of beam and reduced overall size
