The adhedsive systems used in the manufactur of timber products are generally characterised by their characteristic properties (e.g. solid content, Ph-Value, viscosity). This gives only an inadequate description of their technological properties. To fill this knowledge-gap, methods of polymer analysis can usefully be employed. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonace (1H-NMR) spectroscopy were used and combined to get more information about the molecular structure and the main reactions taking place during the synthesis of PF-adhesives
